March 25

I have not kept up with this blog very well over the last month, my apologies. March has been busy!!! We are almost finished the Egyptian unit and soon we will be focusing on Greece.
Our class is now running Monday, Wednesday and Friday right before lunch. Students need to remember to bring their gym strip which includes proper footwear. The expectation is for students to move, and if that means that they can only run for short periods of time and walk the rest of the route, no problem. So far the class has participated very well!
Congratulations to the Relay Teams that participated yesterday. Well done Grade 6′s. A 2nd overall for the girls and 3rd overall for the boys.

Division 1 is responsible for a Chocolate themed basket at the Family Dance in April. If you can send a donation to school for the basket it would be greatly appreciated.
Don’t forget that Friday, March 26 is a half day. Students will be dismissed at 12:30pm.
Last reminder, the forms for course selection for the Brock Middle School are due tomorrow. If you do not get your sheets in on time you may not get the courses that you really want.

Division 1 has been busy! Students have been diligently working on their Egyptian projects. Very creative games and colourful artwork have resulted. Hieroglyphics, and Gods and Goddesses adorn our classroom. Well done.
Don’t forget to bring items for the food bank, money for the dance, glow sticks and concession as well your Valentines! Remember the dance is in the afternoon from 1-2:30.
Next week we will continue on with Egypt and start to wrap up our unit on electricity.
Remember February 19 is an Inservice Day for students. Stay home and enjoy your long weekend. February 26 is Tubing at Harper Mountain.

January is Going, Going, Gone

Where did the first month of the New Year go? Division 1 has been really busy with projects, sports teams, pajama day, MS Read-a-Thon and many other activities.
Both grades are now working on Egypt and Electricity. The grade sevens are focusing on Ancient Egypt and the the grade sixes are studying Egypt from a more modern perspective. They both have been given their project expectations, criteria and specific instructions. I will attach these to the Blog shortly so they have access to them at all times if they FORGET their work at school.
The Olympics are coming and we will be spending some time watching and working on lessons that focus on these games. I know the students are very excited and shared their experiences from last night as the torch traveled through our town.
Things to look forward to in February include: skating, Tubing at Harper Mountain, the Olympic Games, Teachers vs. Students Basketball Game and perhaps preparation for the new Parkcrest Talent Showcase.
